Experience Selkirk Day is an annual event where high school students grades 10-12 can pre-register in exciting workshops that will help them explore college programs and define potential careers. Student Life at Selkirk College was enjoyed by all this year
Experience Selkirk Day was our annual event at Castlegar campus and Nelson campuses. It was an epic day with hands-on learning, filled with lots of Kootenay style and a delicious barbeque luncheon took place. We had another memorable turn out from grades 10-12 and all over from Kootenay-Boundary districts.—May 2, 2013
Business Students Show Competitive Edge
More than 60 students presented their innovative business ideas to six local business volunteer judges at the competition, held at the Castlegar Campus on March 28th. There were two parts to the competition: a marketing challenge for the first-year students and a business case competition for the second-year students. —April 9, 2013
Cutting-Edge Equipment to Selkirk College
Exciting news from Selkirk College provincial funding from the Ministry of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology, Selkirk College purchased new state-of-the-art equipment for trades programs that will provide students with real-world, hands-on experience. Over $780,000 was received from the Province.—May 30, 2013
Conference was a Great Success
When Selkirk College staff and students first envisioned an Aboriginal Youth and Educators Conference that would take place on the grounds of the school’s Castlegar campus, their hope was to create an event that would promote opportunities for educational and cultural growth for Aboriginal learners from the West Kootenays and beyond.—July 11, 2013
Big News for PTEC This Fall At Selkirk College
Selkirk College recently signed an agreement with the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) to deliver the online version of the National Pharmacy Technician Bridging Education Program. The program will allow those already working in the role of pharmacy technician to upgrade their skills.—July 31, 2013
