How did you make your way to Selkirk College?

In 2019, my future husband got a researcher and instructor position with the college. I saw how good the culture was, so I planned to apply.

Describe one of your favourite Selkirk College moments.

The intercultural day was one of my favourite moments. I have a connection with the Mexican students here, and it was great to work with them and see their engagement and pride in the culture—being a Mexican immigrant myself.

What's the best advice you ever received?

"It's not rejection—it's redirection." It gives me a different perspective when things don't work out.

What is something you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love to move my body through yoga and pole fitness. I really enjoy taking classes online through a studio in Mexico City, which allows me to learn in my own language and have a connection to my hometown.

Please share a non-work-related recommendation! Let us know one of your favourite shows, albums, books, etc.

I have two! One is anything Harry Potter! The other is a cafeteria treat. When you order the poutine, ask for bacon on top! Everyone needs to know about this!
