Marissa Carrasco Named Director, Student Engagement & Wellness
Congratulations to Marissa on Her New Role!
I am happy to announce that after a very competitive search, Marissa Carrasco has accepted the position of Director, Student Engagement & Wellness (previously the Director, Student Development). Marissa comes to the Student Success team from the School of Academic Upgrading and Development where she provided multi-campus leadership and support to a team of over 30 faculty and staff. Marissa holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering (Lakehead University); a Bachelor of Education (University of British Columbia); and a Bachelor of Science in Physics (University of British Columbia).
Marissa started with Selkirk College in 2015 as an instructor, moving to Program Coordination in 2020 and the Chair role in 2021. Notably, Marissa also served as the Chair of the EDI Advisory Committee and supported the launch of Selkirk College’s first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Plan. Previous work and volunteer experience has included roles in transportation and on the board of Kootenay Family Place, including time in a co-chair role.
We are so happy to continue to work with Marissa in her new role!
