As Canada’s post-secondary landscape evolves, Selkirk College’s commitment to providing domestic and international students high–quality, accessible programming supported by robust services remains the same.

Following the federal government’s new cap on international students and changes to work permit eligibility, we are experiencing lower than normal application rates for spring 2025. We are working to mitigate the impact of the lower enrolment numbers we’re projecting for 2025/26 and are rolling out some changes to adapt to the current context.

Spring 2025 intakes will be suspended for select programs. These changes only impact the spring 2025 intake. Where applicable, students are invited to apply for the Fall Term in September 2025.

The programs pausing intakes for spring 2025 are:

  • Hospitality Management - Postgraduate Diploma
  • Culinary Management - Postgraduate Diploma
  • Business Management - Postgraduate Diploma
  • Accounting - Postgraduate Diploma
  • Business Administration Diploma

Additionally, the Gerontological Nursing - Postgraduate Diploma will be suspended for the fall 2025 intake.

Impacted students have been notified and invited to defer to another intake, explore transfer to a different program or request a full refund. It is important to note that the IRCC changes do not affect our current students enrolled and studying at Selkirk College.

Our top priority in the coming period will be to support employees, students and community members through this transition to the best of our ability. Change presents an opportunity for growth, and together, we will harness innovation and new ideas to adapt to the new landscape.
