Meet the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Committee
Find Out How to Get Involved
—From the desks of Chantal Lortie and the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Committee members
In 2021, Selkirk College established its first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Advisory Committee. The committee provides the Selkirk College Leadership Team with advice, recommendations and influence to enhance EDI initiatives, activities and policies as per the EDI Action Plan.
The EDI Advisory Committee is composed of employees with diverse lived experiences and perspectives and represents different divisions and teams at Selkirk College. The committee's role is also to ensure the accountability of the Selkirk College Leadership Team by monitoring the execution of the EDI Action Plan, supporting its review at regular intervals, and, from time to time, establishing and engaging employee resource groups and/or employees. Meet the members and explore the committee’s full terms of reference.
Currently, the EDI Advisory Committee is looking for Selkirk College employees interested in becoming a committee member and/or being part of a community of practice or inclusion resource group.
Representation and participation from equity-denied groups and communities are deeply important to this work. We especially encourage applications from employees who identify with these groups and communities. To ensure the committee represents voices from all campuses, we also particularly invite Trail, Grand Forks, Nakusp and Kaslo employees to apply.
If you’re interested, please email the current chair of the EDI Advisory Committee, Chantal Lortie, by March 28, 2024.
