File Migration Project Complete
Over 4.5 Terabytes of Data Moved to New Drive
—From the desk of Nick Howald, CIO
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the IT Services (ITS) recent file migration project.
All files and folders have now been moved from the old OES/Novell shares (S Drive, for example) to the new Microsoft W Drive.
Our team worked with 25 different departments to identify data ownership and permissions, and to create migration plans for over 200 folders. This project has allowed us to retire legacy infrastructure and keep Selkirk College’s information safe and accessible.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the project for their cooperation, patience and understanding as we moved over 4.5 terabytes of data.
The legacy OES servers will be shut down on October 31, 2024.

- If you are a Mac user, you’ll need to connect to the W Drive through VPN.
- Need help reorganizing your W Drive folders or changing permissions? Submit a ticket and ITS will reach out to you.
- If you are still seeing the S Drive, please notify ITS by submitting a ticket.
