Cultivating Shared Spaces

Help Spruce Up Employee Lounges

From the desk of Marta Abel, People, Culture and Organizational Development Advisor

Following the Organizational Climate Survey in February 2023, initiatives to support employees in building stronger relationships with colleagues within and across teams are being developed.

One way to forge deeper connections is to gather together! Employee lounges are dedicated spaces for socializing, relaxing and connecting. Collectively, let's consider how to make these spaces more welcoming and appealing.

Earlier today, employee lounges were stocked with snacks and beverages. We hope you’ll spend some time in the lounge this week to relax, chat with a colleague and enjoy a treat. While you’re there, please take some time to reflect on what might help entice you to spend time in this space during breaks and meals.

Employee Lounges by Campus

  • Castlegar Campus – Staff Lounge – next to the cafeteria by the southwest entrance
  • Silver King Campus – C-123
  • Tenth Street Campus – Patenaude 301D
  • Victoria Street Campus – 220
  • Trail Campus – 105
  • Learning Centres – There will also be treats in Grand Forks, Kaslo and Nakusp in the designated break spaces. Marilyn Rivers and Helen Worth will reach out with the details.

Your Space, Your Ideas

In the spaces, you will find a link to a quick survey about opportunities for improvement. While the budget is limited (we won't be able to refurnish and redecorate the whole space), there is an opportunity for some meaningful additions.
