Three Schools to Fall Under Leadership of Patricia Bidart
Vice President of Education & Students Neil Coburn announced on April 5 that the new instructional dean position has been filled. Below is his announcement to Selkirk College staff.
I am very pleased to announce that Patricia Bidart has accepted the position of Dean. Pat comes to us from Alberta where she had a successful teaching and administrative career at Olds College. She has also worked with Bow Valley College, the University of Alberta, and several other Canadian colleges and school districts. She has a breadth of experience covering the trades, academic upgrading and student support services, dual credit programs, international education, Teaching and Learning, and distributed education, among others.
For the past two years, Pat has served as a Senior Technical Advisor with CICan, overseeing Canadian college projects with Institutions in Belize, Guyana, Jamaica and Suriname. It was on our CICan project in Suriname that she worked with Teresa Petrick and Rhys Andrews; a meeting that sparked her interest in Selkirk College.
Pat will be here in early June for two weeks of orientation and then take up full time duties in August. She will be responsible for the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Cosmetology, the School of Environment & Geomatics, and the School of Business. While her main office will be on the Tenth Street Campus she will also be on the Castlegar campus several days a week.
Please join me in extending a very warm Selkirk welcome to Pat.
