The department of Community, Corporate and International Development (CCID) has been revamped into two specific focus areas.
Earlier this year, Vi Kalesnikoff retired as the Dean of Community, Corporate and International Development (CCID). About the same time Jim O’Meara (then Manager for Continuing Education and Distributed Learning) moved over to take on the position of Associate Registrar.
In replacing these two positions, we revamped the division to have two specific focus areas. Now that the dust has settled I’d like to re-introduce them.
Danny Beatty, Manager for International Education and Development (IED); this includes Selkirk International and our partnerships with institutions and organizations overseas. For example, did you know that Selkirk has over 700 students registered in Tourism and Business English programs with our partner (Taiyuen Normal University) in Taiyuen, China. Gregg Neelin, Manager for Community Education and Workplace Training (CEWT); this unit produces more student FTEs than any other in the College. In addition, the provincial Ministry of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology, and the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training have a renewed focus on job training and workforce development. This focus has resulted in funding opportunities that will likely bring more than one million dollars of training money into the College this year. The new name was chosen to better reflect this focus and to provide a meaningful name to interested community partners. Contact email@example.com or 250.365.1256.
