Giving Back to Community Spreads Holiday Cheer

As with past years, Selkirk College will be supporting the Community Harvest Food Bank (Castlegar) and Salvation Army (Nelson) in their efforts to fill hampers for families in our area, and with these hampers will go toys for the kids.

Over the past few years, our employees have donated an overwhelming amount of toys and gifts to the Tree of Sharing; your generosity has translated into many happy moments for the moms and dads who can't afford to purchase toys, and for the children who would not otherwise receive them. With your support, we look forward to participating in this fun and worthy activity again this year.

Christmas Trees have been/will be erected this week at each of KSA, Silver King (Admin. area), Tenth Street (Admin. area) and Castlegar (Admin & Switchboard) campuses. Each tree features cards as simple reminders for you to purchase a gift if you wish to; please feel free to take one and next time you're out shopping, think about purchasing something for a needy child in our community. Don't forget that it is often the teenagers that are forgotten...everyone loves to buy toys for little kids, and it seems often the older children are left out. If you would like to donate money rather than gifts, please feel free to do so; we can accept cash, cheques or gift cards and will make sure all funds are received.

Unwrapped gifts and monetary donations can be delivered to the following locations at each campus by December 12th:

-- Castlegar Campus: Holly Steenvoorden (A29)

-- Tenth Street Campus: Lonnie Saliken in Admin area

-- Silver King Campus: Kristin Knutson in Admin/Reception area

-- KSA Campus: Erin Potulicki in Admin/Reception area
