Sign Up for Free Pension Seminars

PPWC Members and Members of the Municipal Pension Plan

The fall schedule for the Municipal Pension Plan free member seminars is now posted on the Municipal Pension Plan website. The pension corporation is excited to get the seminar season under way with seminars offered across B.C.

These pension seminars (see the website) provide the key pension information you need to plan and prepare for your retirement. When you attend the seminars, you can look forward to understanding your pension and educating yourself about options available to you.

It is important as a new or mid-career member to know how the decisions you make today can affect your retirement pension in the years to come. In this seminar, Your Pension, Your Future, the pension corporation will discuss the details of your pension, including:

  • The pension value and its many benefits
  • How to maximize your pension through purchase of service and transfer of service if those opportunities apply to you
  • The way life events, such as marital separation or raising children, can affect your pension
  • Tools to assist you when making important decisions about your pension

For employees/members within five years of retirement, the Pension Corporation offers a seminar titled Thinking About Retiring. This seminar will help you plan and prepare for your retirement. Topics covered include:

  • How your pension works
  • How to choose your best pension option
  • The group health and dental benefits available for retirees
  • How to navigate the retirement process
  • Tools to assist you when making important decisions about your pension

Registration is easy. You can register for Your Pension, Your Future or Thinking About Retiring through My Account on your plan website or another one of the options available.

Please note the following:

  • Seminars run until mid-December 2016
  • Check the Pension Corporation website for schedule updates
  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Attendees, including those receiving long-term disability benefits, are welcome to bring their spouse or a guest
