New Employee Welcome Event

Kick off the new school year with conversation and connection

 

All Selkirk College employees are invited to the New Employee Welcome on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 9 am, on the Castlegar Campus. It will be followed by a Welcome Back Lunch at 12:00 pm.

This event is a chance for employees who have joined the college within the last 12 months to learn about the college, connect with colleagues and take part in some activities (with prizes!).

While these sessions are geared toward new employees, everyone is welcome. This event is a great opportunity to make connections as we prepare to welcome students back on campus for a year of learning and growth.

Following the morning session, lunch will be provided to new and returning employees as an opportunity to connect and gear up for the 2022/23 year together.

Morning Itinerary

9 am to 9:25 am: Welcome from Leadership

Enjoy a beverage and settle in with a welcome from Selkirk College President Maggie Matear, interim Executive Director of Human Resources Stacey Matthews, and more.

9:25 am to 9:50 am: iLearn resource – Intro & Scavenger Hunt

Sneak peek! Be one of the first to take a virtual tour of onboarding resources.

9:50 am to 9:55 am: Break

9:55 am to 10:55 am: World Café

Get to know your colleagues in this engaging hour of conversations and connections hosted by experienced facilitators. We’ll share some meaningful dialogue about our shared values and commitments, and the unique strengths each of us brings to the table. At the end, we’ll have a graphic representation of what transpired!

10:55 am to 11:10 am: Break

Refresh your beverage and travel to your next activity.

11:10 am to 12:00 pm: Choose Your Own Adventure

Choose an activity! You can:

  • Create Indigenous-Inspired Crafts (Gathering Place)
  • Join a Yoga Session & Gym Tour (U6)
  • Tour the Library
  • Walk the Trails
