Celebration of Life Events in Memory of Kim Kratky

Long-time retired Castlegar campus English instructor Kim Kratky has passed away after a battle with cancer. Two Celebrations of LIfe for Kim are planned for March and April in Nelson. The next Celebration of Life is being held Saturday April 6 at a location to be determined.

Kim had been diagnosed with cancer eight months ago. He was a long time English instructor on the Castlegar campus, until retiring in 2010, a well-respected staff member, and an avid mountaineer

"I am so saddened to hear of Kim's passing. What courage Kim had to face this illness with such poise. How vital a life to be shortened so unfairly. Kim was a wonderful and inspiring educator, a quite unbelievable mountain man. When I visited him in the fall he recounted the some 20+ peaks he bagged in 2011/12 ... all during the WINTER months!", said President Angus Graeme.

Celebration of Life (Fri Mar 15th)

The first was Friday, March 15, a Tribute to Kim at Oso Negro in Nelson - Oso will donate 10% of each coffee sale towards a Keep Jumbo Wild Legacy Fund.

Celebration of Life (Sat Apr 6th)

The next a Celebration of Life is at 1:00 pm is Sat April 6, with the Nelson location to be confirmed.

The family has requested that those wishing to make a financial contribution in Kim's memory could do so to the BC Cancer Agency.
