Transitional Training Students Help Book Campaign

Students Get Behind 'Book Under Every Tree' Campaign

The students in Castlegar's Transitional Training Program will play Santa's elves in the first half of December by taking part in the Book Under Every Tree campaign.

Between December 1 and 15, people are asked to donate new or gently used books for a Christmas food hamper. The partnership between the Community Harvest Food Bank and Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy aims to bring pletny of smiles on the faces of those who receive packages on December 25.

Book Under Every Tree

Some of those who will be helping in the Book Under Every Tree campaign include: Jim Leitch (instructor), Lara Chernenkoff, Shauna Hegan, Jay Melwick, James Riley, Damian Hillstead, Linda Munro and Allan Kuzyk.

Students in the Transitional Training Program have prepared the box to receive the books and have been postering the campus to build awareness. They will also collect the books during the two-week campaign. The box is set up at the Castlegar Campus Library.

Other places to drop off books include the Castlegar & District Public Library, Kootenay Family Place, Robson Community School and Zellstoff Celgar. If you like to make a donation to purchase books please call Alana at 250-304-6862.
