Tragedy in Calgary Has Shaken Post-Secondary Community

On behalf of the Selkirk College community, it is with deep sadness that we send our support and prayers to the family and friends of the five young people who died in the tragedy that took place in Calgary earlier this week. This wholly unfathomable act has shaken those involved in post-secondary education well beyond the University of Calgary and we express our deep condolences to all those affected.

We understand this sort of tragic event can impact students on our campuses in the West Kootenay-Boundary. Many staff and students have strong ties to Alberta and this upsetting incident reverberates at Selkirk College. For those wishing support in coping with this traumatic news, please contact the college counselling department at 250.365.1273 (Castlegar) or 250.352-6601 (Nelson).
