Big Friday for Saints Hockey

The Selkirk College Saints are off to a blazing start in the 2013-14 BCIHL season and want to finish off the first half of the schedule in front of a huge Friday night home crowd.

Saints hockey finishes semester

To get hockey fans warmed up for the big night, there will be a game day rally in The Pit on the Castlegar Campus on Friday from noon to 1 pm presented by Teck. The players will be out in full force, there will be $2 burgers and hot dogs, and free game tickets will be given away. Hockey fans will also get to vote on the player with the best Movember facial hair.

“This is an opportunity to really build some college spirit,” says Kim Verigin, Selkirk’s Athletics and Recreation Coordinator. “We’re honoured to have Teck as our sponsor for the game and we’d love to see a great crowd out for our last game of the semester.”

Selkirk currently sits in first place in the BCIHL, two points up on Thompson Rivers University. The defending league champion Saints will take Eastern Washington University at the Castlegar Community Complex starting at 7:30 pm. The Saints are 9-3 on the season so far, while Eastern Washington has put together a 4-6-0-1 record.

Friday is also National Jersey Day in Canada and the Saints are getting into the spirit by offering 50% off admission for fans who wear any sports jersey.
