Armstrong was given the honour of Distinguished Educator and joins a worthy group that includes John Adams, Dr. Gordon Turner, Don Wilson, Fred Wah, Stephen Goldsmith, Dr. David Williams, Dr. Peter Wood, Dr. Bill Sloan, Larry Brown and Lesley Anderdon.
Armstrong and his wife Shoko prior to the Graduation 2015 Ceremony that was held on the Castlegar Campus last month.
Armstrong wrote the following letter post-ceremony to express his thanks for what took place over the last month:
I’m writing to say “Thank You” to my colleagues for nominating and supporting me for this very special honour, to the selection committee for recommending me, and to Angus, Neil, and Bruce and the Board of Governors for presenting this award to me.
I also want to say how very fortunate I am to have worked with so many inspiring, encouraging, and supportive people throughout Selkirk College over my career, and, of course, with our wonderful students.
I feel deeply honoured to continue to be a member of the Selkirk College community as the recipient of this award for this year.
Thank you all.
