Welcoming an Increased Awareness – Indigenization Gathering

Gathering Our Knowledge, Understanding and Questions

Start 2017 off with a focus on Indigenization at Selkirk College. On January 5, the Community of Practice Indigenization group will be meeting at the Gathering Place to discuss the topic “Gathering Our Knowledge, Understanding and Questions.”

The number of students who self-identify as indigenous is steadily increasing. The Teaching and Learning Institute and Aboriginal Services at Selkirk College collaborate to help make indigenous students feel welcome and also increase awareness. A Community of Practice meets regularly to share best practices.

College President Angus Graeme and Vice President of Education Neil Coburn are scheduled to attend the first meeting of 2017.

It will take place at 11 a.m. until noon. If staff want to attend but aren’t in Castlegar, please let Olga Sherstobitoff know and she will help you call into the room from your location on another campus.
