An Event for All Selkirk College Staff
With the arrival of Selkirk College’s 50th year of serving the West Kootenay-Boundary, there is plenty to think about. Our mission of inspiring lifelong learning and transforming lives through education continues stronger than ever. We are fortunate to have a solid foundation of five decades of hard work to build upon as we move forward into the next 50 years.
The theme of this year’s Staff Discovery Day fits in well with where we have been, where we are and where we are going: Legacy. When the residents of our region voted to create the province’s first rural regional college through referendum, a legacy of trust was put to every staff member who has walked through the doors of all our campuses over the last five decades.
At this year’s Staff Discovery Day, we will gather to discuss what it means to have a legacy left for us and how we can continue to create a legacy for those we serve on a daily basis. Our students, our colleagues and our community depend on us to help build a stronger region through the great work we do. Legacy is not bound by age or time served, each one of us is an important part of what Selkirk College continues to build into the future.
This year’s Staff Discovery Day takes place on Tuesday, February 9th at the Castlegar Campus. There will be morning workshops and then break for lunch. The afternoon will feature an exciting group session where we will discuss the importance of what we do and look towards the legacy we are leaving for future generations.
