On February 24th Nelson Rotary, Ripping Giraffe and Kootenay Quickshot teamed up with Selkirk's Resort and Hotel Management program to raise funds for the Kootenay Lake Outdoor Skate Park Society. The event was designed to feel like skate boardings home - the street.
The food by RHOT year one was placed on street carts, while students from the Kootenay School of Arts, Contemporary Music, and Digital Arts and New Media also volunteered their time to make the event a success.
Regardless of the terrible weather, the turnout was astounding. Guests were amazed by local and college talent. Nelsons own Rhythm Ropers and skateboarders left spectators in awe.
Selkirks Resort and Hotel Management program coordinated a multi-media event that truly brought from the streets to support the local community.
