Resort and Hotel Management Students Volunteered

Winter Carnival in Rossland, BC

On Friday, January 25th, the Resort and Hotel Management students volunteered for the Winter Carnival in Rossland and the live Canada AM TV broadcast. We left the Tenth Street Campus via bus at the unruly hour of 1:00 am arriving in Rossland shortly after 2:00 am. From 2:00 am until 5:00 am the students volunteered by assisting with the stage and band set up, crowd control, traffic control and keeping people off the rail jam. Why so darn early? The live broadcast was aired eastern time so filming had to start at 3:00 am for 6:00 am eastern time viewing!

It was a great hands on experience for the students, learning firsthand what it takes to put on a large scale community event as well as promoting tourism for the region. Plus it was a great opportunity for the Resort and Hotel Management program to support the Rossland community.  Kathryn, Dynyka, ‌Amelie, Lindsay and Hannah also volunteering at the 2013 Rossland Winter Carnival!
