Comrie Embarks on Exciting New Role

Healthy Campus Advisor Now in Place

A big welcome to Leslie Comrie in her new role and a new position for Selkirk College. Leslie is the new the Healthy Campus Advisor.

Leslie’s past experience as a mental health and addictions counselor, clinical supervisor, and director of a learning centre for young mothers has provided her with an ideal skill set to share with students and staff in this position.

Leslie completed her Master's in 2007 from Dalhousie University and started work at Selkirk College in 2008 as an instructor in the Health & Human Services Department both in Human Services and more recently in Nursing.

In the past five years Leslie has been very involved in healthy campus initiatives launched at Selkirk College. Some examples of the work in which Leslie has taken a lead role include Eat & Art, dinner baskets, her work in changing the culture of substance abuse research, youth in care support through procedure development and transitions to post-secondary, and multiple projects for the resident advisors.

Leslie has a strong sense of community and a keen understanding of how her work fits within the college's Pillars of Success. Her approach is one where she holds our learners as the "north star to inspire them to become active and engaged citizens in both our institution as well as the community in which they will serve."

Congratulations Leslie in your new role as Healthy Campus Advisor!
